that also remain in rotation today. I'd be remiss if I didn't say something about Led Zeppelin. 1993. I was a junior in high school when I discovered this band. The 1990 remastered box set occupied (and still occupies) the first two pages of my giant book of CDs. I collected bootlegs via tape trees (!) on cassette and VHS. I read the books, I read the fan fiction on the internet—and I even managed a Led Zeppelin listserv in college. But because I first developed my love for them via a box set, I don't have a strong preference for any one album. Each one is a masterpiece in its own right, but if I had to pick one it would either be IV/ZOSO, or this amazing work of music: Presence. Wow, I'm 60% done and I haven't even gotten past high school. I nominate Edward 'Ned' Holets because one time when "Good Times, Bad Times" (LZ's first studio album song) came on at work, he said "turn that shit up!"—or something to that effect.
