and remain in rotation today. I would not have made it through my programming assignments in college without _Amorica_, the most underrated of the Black Crowes' albums. The band was going through a dark period, which seemed appropriate for the dark computer labs where I would occasionally (often?) spend the night. I accidentally left this CD in a computer on one such night and someone made off with it, so I had to buy it again, or else I was destined to fail CS 107. Two other weird notes: 1) The cover was originally banned and replaced by a triangular flag on a black background, because in the face of so many offensive things, god forbid anyone be allowed to see a pubic hair, especially on a woman. (Major double-standard alert, even in the 90s!) 2) The art on the CD itself is from a Russian anti-drug poster showing how the poppy flower (heroin) "hooks" the user. Yes, the irony is pretty thick here. Many, many good songs, including the concert standby "Wiser Time" and the truly wonderful "She Gave Good Sunflower" but this album really shines when you play it in order, from start to finish. And again, and again—until that program compiles, passes tests and gets turned in. I nominate Ben Kenber because he's a great writer and movie critic. (The critics hated this one!)
